Hands of Gold

When your friend is a talented seamstress and asks if you could design their logo and garment tags, you do it. You also casually add your measurements to your email footer and hope they notice.

It was incredibly fun to concept this logo and tag design for Hands of Gold, out of Vermont, and work with the embroiderer to get perfect versions of the finished tag.

OmniForce / CauseForce

OmniForce (and its charitable arm CauseForce) produce athletic events across the US, Canada, and Australia. In 2015, I was named Brand Director for a new event: The Scotiabank Baycrest Pro-Am, North America’s largest hockey charity game, and set to work on the full identity design for this event. From logo design, web design, print materials, apparel, signage, brand guide, and more, I was able to construct a cohesive brand identity (and design a jersey for Gordie Howe!)

Other OmniForce events included the Surf City Half/Full Marathons, and the Surf City 10 races in Huntington Beach. I worked on the 20th anniversary of the Surf City Marathon, creating custom badges and a logo refresh. I also designed t-shirts, postcards, wayfinding signage, and finisher’s medals that incorporated bottle-openers and sand-flecked enamel.

Brainrush

Ambitious education technology start-up Brainrush, founded by Atari and Chuck E. Cheese founder Nolan Bushnell, aimed to revolutionize the way students learned. By working directly with teachers to craft learning games on the Brainrush platform, Brainrush was an invaluable learning tool for students age K–college.

Joining the Brainrush team at the outset, I was able to design the Brainrush brand identity from the ground up, carefully crafting the website, iconography, marketing materials, print collateral, and apparel. I even stenciled an entire wall of the office with their logo in chalk.

Working in tandem with the developers, marketing team, teachers and educators was an informative experience. I was able to adapt designs to work well with different learning styles and accessibility needs.
